The Colli Euganei is the first regional park established in Veneto (1989), this hill chain has been celebrated by many artists such as Francesco Petrarca, Shelley and Byron. Here you will enjoy the many medieval and charming villages and small towns, like Arquà Petrarca, Monselice, Este as well as the landscape and the many wine cellars where you can stop and taste the wines produced in this area together with typical and local cheese and cured meats.

The Euganean Hill are also famous for their villas, castles, monasteries and gardens such as the house of the famous poet Francesco Petrarca, the benedectine monastery of Praglia, the Villa dei Vescovi, the castle Cini at Monselice, the baroque garden of Villa Barbarigo.

Some of the most charming towns in the Euganean Hills:

ARQUA’ PETRARCA and its enchanting historical medieval centre, Petrarca’s house, his tomb and giuggiula fruit!

The Monumental complex of Valsanzibio was brought to its contemporary magnificence in the second half of the Seventeenth Century by the Venetian noble Giovani Francesco Barbarigo, assisted by his sons Antonio and Gregorio. In fact, it was this last son, the first-born, Gregorio—Cardinal and Bishop of Padua and future saint—who inspired the symbolic meaning of the plan drawn by Luigi Bernini— the top Vatican architect and fountain expert.  The then Cardinal Gregorio Barbarigo, as the result of a solemn ‘vow’ made by his Father to our God in 1631 (see bottom note 1), desired the garden of Valsanzibio to be a monumental, symbolic pathway to perfection; a journey that brings man from the false to the truth, from ignorance to revelation.

MONSELICE, sightseeing of the medieval historical centre, the castle with one of the most important collections of European medieval weapons and armours, the old cathedral, the Belvedere, the seven votive churches and Villa Duodo

The Villa dei Vescovi is a Renaissance-style, rural palatial home located in the neighborhood or frazione of Luvigliano, within the city limits of Torreglia, province of Padova, region of Veneto, Italy. Initially built for the archbishops of Padua, the villa is now owned by the Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI), and the grounds and frescoed rooms are open to visitors and guests.
